Eero: Remote Shows “Project Offline” or other Connection Issues with Eero Wi-Fi Network
Symptom
A Cinema Remote or Home Remote seems to lose its connection to an Eero WiFi network.
The remote intermittently displays a “Project Offline” message.
The Android Wi-Fi screen sometimes shows a connection error stating that the network has no Internet connection when no other devices are having issues reaching Internet services.
Quick Steps
Disable the default Use Randomized MAC (default) setting for each SSID that the remote uses.
You may need to disable and re-enable Wi-Fi on the remote to have this setting take effect. |
Background
In Android, randomized MAC addresses are a privacy feature that changes the device's MAC address periodically when connecting to different Wi-Fi networks. This makes it harder for network operators or third parties to track devices across different networks based on their unique MAC address. Android 10 and later versions enable this feature by default.
In a home environment, this privacy setting is not needed and can even interfere with connectivity on certain networks, such as Eero. AVA does not currently (May 2025) disable this feature, as it is an Android default.
