🎥 Dummy Devices for Smart Homes

Got a Sony Playstation PS5, a computer, or other device that has no direct-control driver? A dummy driver gives you a way to add it to AVA OS as a no-control device.

Opening

A dummy is a device that can’t be controlled directly by AVA OS.

Like…a Sony Playstation 5.

Unlike the Xbox, which has infrared control, the PS5 is best controlled with its own controllers.

Introduction

The AVA driver database has “dummy” drivers for game controllers, computers, and various other no-control devices.

A dummy driver gets you a Flow that can coordinate all the input switching with the dummy device as if it were being controlled.

…and then puts a helpful message on the touchscreen to let the user know to switch over to the controller for game console.

Installing for Dummies

Add a dummy driver just like any other device.

Go to Settings > Devices > Add Device.

There are numerous types of Dummy device.

A game box like a PS5 has an appropriate controller icon.

Once added, you do all the wiring steps to get the flow to switch inputs, just like any other device.

When you launch Flow for the Dummy Game Console, it shows a message telling you which controller to use.

To replace the generic name “Game” here, go to Devices and change the name of the Dummy device.

Summary

And that’s pretty much it.

Now you have a quick way to make Computers or “uncontrollable” game consoles work with AVA OS.
