Connect AVA A1 Speaker to Wi-Fi without the AVA App
Overview
With AVA OS 2.0, the updated AVA app left out the UI for connecting an AVA A1 Speaker to Wi-Fi. Until this is fixed in an update, use one of the workarounds explained in this article for connecting to Wi-Fi.
Options
A1 Speakers can be connected to Wi-Fi using Apple's "Set Up AirPlay Speaker" workflow from an iPhone or iPad.
Temporarily connect the speaker to Ethernet to access the speaker's web UI.
Option 1: Connect Using Apple's AirPlay Speaker Setup from an iPhone or iPad
On the A1 Speaker, press and hold the ➕ and 🎵 buttons until you hear a ping. This puts the speaker into Wi-Fi setup mode.
On your iPhone or iPad, open the Settings app.
Tap Wi-Fi.
Make sure your iPhone or iPad is connected to the same network you want the A1 to join.
Look for “Set Up New AirPlay Speaker” near the bottom of the Wi-Fi list.
Select your AVA A1 Speaker and follow the on-screen instructions.
Option 2: Configure from a Temporary Ethernet Connection
AVA recommends using Ethernet for the speaker when it’s a long-term option.
Connect the A1 Speaker using Ethernet where the Wi-Fi SSID is in range.
From another device on the same network, use a browser to go to the IP address of the A1 Speaker.
From the speaker's web UI, configure Wi-Fi.
