AVA OS - Release Notes - 1.59.0 Portal

Hey, AVA installers!

Just in time for CEDIA Expo, we have the release “Portal,” AVA OS 1.59.0 for you. With it comes lots of automation goodness.

You get several more IP drivers—including support for SurgeX devices, Sky Q (a top request from the UK), and RS232-control devices in AVA OS.

There’s even more on the way, but for now...

Here’s what’s new for you in portal!

New IP Drivers

  • SkyQ
  • Lilin NVR
  • SurgeX Power Strip
  • CYP IP to RS-232
  • CYP EL-42M-PIP
  • CYP IP-CS9000
  • Blustream Matrix IP driver
  • Blustream Multiview IP driver
  • Anthem MRX SLM

IP Driver Enhancements

  • Anthem MDX IP - Added optical input command
  • Sony Bravia IP - Added TV Tuner command
  • Sony Projector IP - Added picture position commands
  • Kaleidescape IP - Fixed an issue where the cover art on the AVA Remote would not show correctly when there were multiple Kaleidescape devices in the network
  • PJLink - Fixed manually adding devices, and extended compatibility
  • Apple TV - Fixed app launch command for DIRECTV

New Features & UX Improvements

  • Fast Command Search - No more scrolling through long command lists; use the search field at the top to find the commands you’re looking for. Works whether adding a Device Command to a Flow, or when adding a button to a Custom UI.
  • Faster Wiring - We removed the input delays from the input selection screens, so loading time is close to zero
  • Intuitive Device Discovery - the UI for adding an IP driver now guides you to use the device in the discovery list rather than manually entering an IP address.
  • Fixed IP Advisory - When you enter an IP address manually for a device, the UI reminds you to use a fixed IP address (DHCP reservation or static assignment)
  • Refined Test Commands Page - Labels on the page and button make this screen a bit easier to understand when adding devices
  • Standardized Button Heights - all button heights are now standardized within AVA OS
  • Smooth List Scrolling - long App launch command lists perform a lot better

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed: Bug in the connection handling in between the AVA Cinema Remote and the AVA Nano Brain that caused false “Project Offline” messages in certain network conditions
  • Fixed: Bug that caused black/blank screen on first pickup of a remote
  • Fixed: Bug causing Apple TV IP driver commands would get lost or repeated in certain network conditions
  • Fixed: Rare case issue where Satellite brain setup could fail when set up from a different remote from the remote used to create the original project
  • Fixed: “Reset Wiring” sometimes did not completely reset the wiring
  • Fixed: Fixed: automated wiring would sometimes not work properly after a “Reset Wiring”
  • Fixed: slides for a Dummy Device driver would sometimes not load correctly (see video ”Dummy Devices for Smart Homes”)

How to Get the New AVA OS Version

AVA OS updates are non-disruptive.

  • AVA Nano Brain - You will see an Update Available badge on any remote connected to the Nano Brain.
  • Cinema Remote & Home Remote - AVA remotes update automatically when on their charging dock. You can also get the latest version of AVA OS from the Play Store as an update to the AVA app.
💡 Pro tip: You can get to the Play Store fast from Settings > General
